A gentle tap is all you need to pick and place your embellishment. If it's not picking up when you gently tap, try clean your tool.

I just got this tool and am in the process of trying it. My old one had a putty tip which would collapse and I had to constantly reshape the tip. Since this new one is very firm, I'm thinking it will pick up nicely and be very sturdy.
